This study examined the mathematics identity development of underrepresented (low-income and first-generation-college) twelfth graders who participated in a college outreach program. The results indicate that program participation can help students develop positive math identities which can serve as a vehicle to recruit underrepresented students into mathematics and math-related majors in college.
