Description of Presentation:
In order to understand the cultural nature of teaching mathematics, we studied an intern teaching a 5th grade class about fraction operations. We used the lens of ritual to analyze the classroom observations and interviews collected over the 3-week unit. Here we share findings that contribute to a cultural portrait of teaching mathematics.
