This presentation examines issues of equity under consideration by district mathematics decision-makers regarding students’ opportunities to learn algebra I. Trends from a national dataset reveal decision-makers’ emphases on equality rather than equity, and a focus on “real life” mathematics over attending to aspects of students’ culture.
