Pattern blocks will be used to develop a firm foundation of fraction concepts and to understand why algorithms work. Topics will include renaming pieces when changing the referent unit, equivalent fractions, partitioning, and fraction operations. This will be an interactive session with real-world applications and hands-on activities.
