Collaboration between engineering and calculus courses creates opportunities for multitiered, project-based lessons that demonstrate the use of mathematics powering practical devices. Using principles of algebra, geometry, and calculus, students design simple machines, nanoscale polymer assemblies, and concussion-resistant helmets.
