One can predict the manifestation of a recessive gene by a formula that requires prealgebra skills. Participants will use the formula to analyze a pedigree from colonial Massachusetts. The topic includes STEM connections to biology and agricultural engineering. It can be adapted as a short exercise, a full lesson, or a project.
