We will examine field-tested, crafted problems in the context of designing urban playgrounds. These problems can be used to support students’ development of big ideas and strategies related to multiplication with fractions and equivalent forms of fractions—decimals and percents. Helpful suggestions for classroom use and materials will be provided.
