Too often, students arrive at a new math concept without the pre-skills necessary to engage in it. An Assess-Respond-Instruct cycle can help to prepare students by finding out what they know and donít know, responding to learning needs, and getting ready for rich new instruction. Increasing ability to engage math leads to increased achievement.
