Friday, October 21, 2011: 8:00 AM-9:00 AM
Room 408/409 (Atlantic City Convention Center)
Lead Speaker:
Steven T. Williams

Most algebra teachers think that imaginary numbers arose from solving quadratic equations. However, mathematicians first found imaginary solutions that could not be ignored in formulas for solving a different kind of equation. Join in on a short and interesting presentation of mathematical history.
