Let’s use balls and hula hoops to make conjectures about circles, and use measurement to test them. What if we use different units: inches, centimeters, diameters? Students start to understand Pi as a constant from their own experience instead of from memorization. Kids of all ages enjoyed these activities at MN State Fair Math-on-a-Stick.
