At the University of Texas—Pan American, a Hispanic-serving institution (HSI), a considerable number of underprepared freshmen, primarily Hispanic, have struggled in remediation math courses and could not be retained in their collegiate study. This presentation will benefit faculty, especially at HSI institutions, seeking to improve pass rates in “gate keeper” courses and improve time to graduation.
