Description of Presentation:

Participants will view classroom videos with accompanying transcripts to examine student development of structural reasoning in an algebra class (CCMP #7: look for and make use of structure). A particular discourse-analytic method will be applied for its potential to reveal collective mathematical sense making in the classroom context.
